About me

I'm Vikas — a software engineer based in India, building products for small and medium businesses. I believe that well-crafted software can meaningfully improve how people work, and I like shipping things that prove it.

What I'm working on

Currently building Udyamik — a multi-tenant, multi-app platform for Indian SMBs. The first app, EduSuite, handles school management end-to-end: admissions, fees, attendance, exams, report cards, WhatsApp notifications, and a parent portal. The second, RinSaathi, covers micro-lending with loan origination and EMI tracking.

The stack is Spring Boot + PostgreSQL (with RLS for multi-tenancy) on the backend and React + Tailwind on the frontend, deployed to a single VPS. I enjoy the constraint of keeping things simple enough to run on one box while serving real customers.

Background

I've spent my career across the stack — from Java/Spring backends to React frontends to infrastructure. I run a homelab for self-hosting, tinker with networking and Linux, and care deeply about developer experience and operational simplicity.

This site

I write here about full-stack development, infrastructure, homelabs, and the craft of building and shipping software. Tutorials tend toward practical, step-by-step guides. Blog posts are shorter reflections on tools, decisions, and lessons learned.

Built with Astro, styled with Tailwind CSS, deployed via rsync to a Hostinger VPS with Caddy handling TLS.
